Equal Billing | Pre-Authorized Debit | Extended Payments | How to pay a bill

Equal Billing Plan

Please note this service is only available to customers who are not under contractual obligations with an electricity retailer.

Take the guesswork out of your budget. The Equal Billing Plan provides convenience for budgeting and eliminates high seasonal utility bills.

You will receive bills of the same amount for 11 months (amount may be revised based on a review of your consumption). In the twelfth month, you are billed for the balance or your account is credited for any amount overpaid.

Conditions:

  • You must have already arranged to be on the Pre-Authorized Debit Plan (see below)
  • Your account must be in good standing
  • You must have a year of billing history at the same address.
    • South Ward applications must be received by July 1
    • North Ward applications must be received by August 1
  • Available to residential customers only.

Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD)

Eliminate the hassle of due dates and late payment charges. Don't write cheques or wait in payment lines. Stop worrying about whether you have a stamp. You can free yourself of the burden of remembering when to pay your hydro bill with our Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) plan.

With PAD, you still regularly receive your bill, only it is paid automatically on the Due Date from your chequing account (or savings account with chequing privileges) with any Bank, Trust Company or Credit Union.

If you don't have access to a printer, you can request that a PAD application be sent in the mail by calling 343-1111 (press 1) .

Hydro Extended Late Payment

Thunder Bay Hydro offers a Hydro Extended Late Payment (HELP) plan for seniors and the physically or mentally challenged. This plan extends the Due Date to the third working day of the following month in order to coincide with monthly pension cheques.

To apply for this service, we will need to see one of your pension cheque stubs.
