How can I get information about an existing power outage?

If there has been a major storm with multiple power outages, often our Customer Service lines are overwhelmed. We update the local media 24/7 and encourage you to turn into a local radio station for more information.

During multiple power outages, crews are dispatched based on priorities of safety and the ability to impact the largest number of customers.

What causes power outages?

Periodically, scheduled interruptions are required to perform maintenance on our system or to your meter. These infrequent interruptions are intended to be of short duration. If work that may require an outage is planned for your neighbourhood, you will be notified.

Unplanned interruptions are usually a direct result of storm damage, vehicle accidents, animals, or other unexpected events such as digging that hit an underground power line. Learn about our line locate service. (Call Before You Dig)

Trees are often the cause of downed power lines. You should not plant trees that will grow tall directly under power lines. Learn about our tree trimming program.

How can I prepare ahead for a power outage?

Power outages can take place at any time in any season. Don't be a victim. There are certain things you should know ahead of time before a power outage happens. Every household should have items on hand to help them through a power outage. Learn more here.
