Hit the Brakes....Not Us
SLOW DOWN IN WORK ZONES.
During North American Occupational Safety and Health Week in 2009, Thunder Bay Hydro launched its public safety campaign.
Truck toppers were given reflective signs that stated "Hit the Brakes...NOT US". This messaging was done in response to the alarming number of 'near miss' incidents around work zone setups.
Drivers simply were not slowing down. In one incident, a driver ran over and dragged three pylons for several blocks before stopping to remove them. This is an indication of how little attention is being paid to road conditions by local drivers.

The truck topper signs were supported by transit shelter ads during the construction season.
